Welcome to Amani Blossoms!
Inspiring a thriving beginning with domestic violence survivors.
Vision: to have a society where women are free from any form of domestic violence.
How We Started
Amani blossom was founded in 2021 by Christine Kiambuthi. Growing up, Christine lived with a relative who constantly underwent domestic abuse. The abuse was anything from physical, emotional, and verbal. She watched the woman go through all three cycles of abuse. When things were good, they were very good. When things were bad it would be anything from a black eye, and broken limbs to death threats. All Christine wanted was to see her relative getting out of there.

_________
Meet Martha.
Martha (not her real name) was referred to us at a point where she felt she could not go on living. Her mother had been chased away from her matrimonial home because she didn’t have sons. Martha returned to her father to get an education. When she was only eleven, her father raped her. He later chased her away and she returned to her mother’s house where she met a man who married her.
She described the marriage as a nightmare. Her husband put her through all sorts of abuse, sexual, physical, emotional, and even verbal. Martha reached her breaking point and attempted suicide by hanging from the ceiling of her house, but she was rescued. She escaped.
Meet Aisha.
Aisha (not her real name), is a student at the university. She met her husband just after high school and they have one child. Her husband systematically alienated her from her family and his. He ensured that he had used up all her savings and that she was financially paralyzed. Aisha could not attend school, feed herself, or even travel home to her family. She tried to report to the local authority who sent them home to resolve their differences. He ensured she had no one to turn to and eventually took her child from her.
In 2021, we took Aisha through counseling and referrals. Today she is back to school and got her child back. She says she is making better decisions for herself.
Meet Nafula.
In February 2022, Nafula was referred to us by a friend. Nafula’s mother experienced abuse in her marriage and left with Nafula and her siblings. His father later died. Her uncles were out to deny them their inheritance. Our volunteer lawyer helped Nafula and her family.
The court awarded Nafula’s family their inheritance. We also recommended psychosocial support for Nafula as the stress levels had taken a toll on her. Nafula has since constructed a temporary house for her mother where she lives in peace.
